We are happy about the new containers. There is no problem wheeling them to the curb every week. Thanks St Petersburg for helping us to do our part to make the world greener!

I refused one. They have placed bins in every driveway. even houses that have been vacant for years. I do my own ....hate being bullied to be forced to pay for service I do on my own. Need 5 cents deposits on cans and bottles. keep your bins. There is an alley way with 6 houses and 4 are vacant messes and they have big blue bins ha ha ! wastes again of our hard earned taxes. this changes nothing.wow

The new large containers are convenient and much better than the smaller containers. Thanks to the mayor for making this happen.

I told them to come get mine...they delivered TWO (2) more! Now I have THREE (3) of them! What a waste of tax payer money! I wonder who WastePro had to sleep with in order to get the contracts for St. Pete AND Tampa? With having a private company for recycling...how many sanitation workers are going to lose their jobs? No one thinks about that. Having this program will force residents who don't want these cans to be in violation of city code...and force those who rent, to have their rents increase because of the imposed ILLEGAL fees that the property owners will have to pay.

Phyllis, a bottle/can deposit requirement=bums going through your trash can daily. They will come into your yard, over your fence, go into your garage, etc. to get to your recycle bin, to get these items that have deposits. Then you will get bottle/can deposit exchange centers located in the parking lots of your grocery stores=grocery store parking lots turn into hobo camps and you will need to go through a gauntlet of pan-handling as you enter and exit the stores. Crime will skyrocket around your neighborhoods as these bin-thieves (it is generally against the law to remove recycled materials when a deposit system is in place) look for a commit crimes of convenience. Nothing can be left on front or back porches, car windows will be broken out, more bikes will be stolen, yadda. You do not want a deposit program in place.

I love the bins! Great idea. Haven't had any issues. I've lived in places with similar recycling programs and have never witnessed "a gauntlet of panhandling" or skyrocketing crime.

I am happy that you have not had the horrible living condition. I cant image what downtown corridor you lived in with a recycle plan without this type of problem, but good for you. I lived in Chicago for 15 years, and Sacramento for 9 years , both with deposit programs, and it is exactly as I have described. You end up grocery shopping in the suburbs where there are less bums to accost you. You must bolt down all outdoor items of any value, because there becomes a climate of "if I can get it, it is mine" mentality among to bums. Every neighbor has a story of break-in, auto smash and grabs, stolen patio furniture, stolen potted plants, etc. Your recycle bin will be searched for your mail and documents with personal info on them. Your recycle can stands a good chance of being stolen so it can be searched while in hiding. Grocery store carts, baby carriages, toy wagons, etc have a stolen premium on them to use for hauling stolen goods. The police cannot do anything about it because they are busy with priory crimes.
