Is there another way to get action on this problem and/or request someone from the City to come examine the problem? I am not sure whether it is the City's responsibility or that of homeowners to ensure that sidewalks are safe and not dangerous due to broken asphalt/concrete and trees breaking apart the sidewalk...

Property owners are typically liable for the sidewalk in front of their property, but it is my understanding that if tree roots from city trees are breaking the walk then it is the city's responsibility.
Do you know what the situation is here?

It appears that the trees that are breaking apart the sidewalk are City trees.

I counted yesterday, and there are three trees that I believe are "City trees" that are making the sidewalk really unstable and dangerous. The section that I am referring to is all asphalt, and it is buckling, breaking, and very uneven. Some one could really hurt themselves, and it's a huge eyesore, too.

I want to remind people that while SeeClickFix does allow anonymous posting, none of us feel comfortable with users impersonating others.

We have been contacted twice with comments doubting that the Mayor of New Haven actually wrote this. I share those doubts.

I watch people, kids and adults, trip over this sidewalk on a daily basis. More now with water park nearby.

There has been some patching done with asphalt, which we appreciate, but the sidewalk is still very unlevel, cracked, and dangerous.

As of 2013 City departments have begun to review, acknowledge and respond to SeeClickFix issues.
