Arlington st, primarily a residential st with lots of families and small children has had a increasing number of 18 wheelers and car carriers traveling this route. It is now mainly trucks driving up and down this street at all hours. Concerns have been expressed by numerous neighbors on the amount of large trucks on this road and the safety concerns it brings to the people who reside there. The trucks are traveling to the businesses in the Arlington Heights area where there is a warehouse and a couple other businesses. There is another road on the other side of these businesses that is non-residential and would be more appropriate for truck routes. What can be done about this concern as it has become more and more of an issue over the last couple years. Thanks.

A. Re-route trucks directly to businesses with signage to avoid the large quantity of 18 wheelers and car carriers on Arlington, a residential st with lots of children.
A. 18 wheelers and large car carriers traveling continuously on Arlington St to the businesses in the back warehouse area. Arlington is mostly a residential St with lots of small children. Is there a way to re-direct truck routes through the back entrance of Arlington Heights directly to the businesses instead of speeding down the residential street?

Unfortunately the business at 223 Arlington Street does not have access to the other roadway (Colonel James M. Halpin Drive). The roadway you are referring to is which is a private roadway and is not accessible to the public.
The Town would not be able to pursue a heavy commercial vehicle exclusion with MassDOT because we would not be able to propose an alternate route to commercial vehicles that would be making deliveries to 223 Arlington Street.
