Description
A stop sign is needed at this three-way intersection to keep traffic going at a reasonable speed - especially those cars heading west and making a left turn on Orange. Friends of East Rock Park is working with the city to try and make this happen.

Friends of East Rock Park took an internet survey on community support for installation of a third stop sign at this intersection. Of the 194 people who responded to the survey, 87.11% supported installation of the stop sign. In response to our efforts, the City of New Haven recently collected traffic data at this intersection of the number and velocity of speeders. Friends of East Rock Park continues to push for the stop sign to be installed and will keep you informed.

As you can imagine, things are always more complicated than they seem.
The Friends of East Rock Park has been advocating for increased safety along English and Farnum Drives. Many of you have likely noticed dotted spray painted lines across the roads at various trail crossings. We are working with the City to paint zebra-style crosswalks at these trail crossings.
Regarding the stop signs, it is strikingly clear that the community wants to see stop signs at these locations. We are in conversations with the City about each of three intersections along English and Farnum Drives and plan to continue to push this issue. I'm optimistic that we'll see some changes in the near future and will keep you informed.
