These buildings are owned by and are part of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith and are located just behind the main building located on 22nd street. The small homes are used to house senior members of the church, and there are several parking spaces located within the gated area. If the church needs additional parking for members, they should allow the congregation to use the spaces inside of their "gated community" and not illegally reserve public space for personal use.

Fully agree! It is becoming such an issue while walking down 22nd Street! I understand the puling up and discharging people in front of the church and stopping traffic but the parking pin the sidewalk is aggravating.

I didn't call 911, but did call 311 on Sunday. Unfortunately, 311 operators do not work on Saturday or Sunday as their hours "have changed" according the the recorded message.

I'll make sure to take pictures of the illegally parked cars on Saturday and Sunday and will post for all to see.

You need to call 911. 311 does not have the power to send anyone out to write tickets, and will tell you to call 911. This is very similar to what happened on Grays Ferry Avenue with St. Matthews church parking illegally in the travel lanes. Ultimately, after involving the 17th district, the police agreed that the "no parking anytime" would be enforced.

Again, church members have decided to park on the sidewalk between Pemberton and Bainbridge on 22nd st and are also parked on sidewalk on the North West side of Bainbridge at the corner of 22nd street. I have called 911 at 1:00pm today and reported this illegal parking and have taken photos which I will post later.

Again, the members of this church have taken to parking on the sidewalk just across the street from the church at the corner of Bainbridge and 22nd street. When I told one of the congregants with NJ plates that it was illegal to park on the sidewalk therefore using public space for personal use she started screaming that "it (her car) here now, you gonna move it?" "Arrest me then if it illegal" and "I'ma get my daddy and he tell you". She then went on to threaten me.

This has got to stop. It is illegal and the church members who seem to think they can break the law whenever they want to must be told that this behavior will not be tolerated.

Call 911 to report illegal parking on Sundays. This is what 311 said to do.

While no one from the church did park on the sidewalk opposite of the church, one of their congregants ( I did see them walk into the church after parking) did block the cross walk by parking at the corner of 22nd and Pemberton. You had to walk into traffic on 22nd to get around the car. This is illegal and affects all of us with baby carriages and others who need a little extra space for wheel chairs, etc. Are they above the law? They must be ticketed or fined.

This situation is ongoing. Just yesterday there were several cars parked on the sidewalk. These congregants scoff at the community while paying no local taxes and contributing to none of the local businesses. You or I would certainly get a ticket for parking on a sidewalk in the city.

This is an ongoing situation. Within the past several weeks a large SUV along with the same car ,in the above photos, both with NJ tags among others have blocked the area making it difficult to walk around. Other cars continue to park on the sidewalks at Bainbridge and 22nd.

I spoke to a PPA officer walking throughout the neighborhood about the problem and he stated "we don't ticket people when they're going to church". With that in mind, we should park Wherever we want on a Sunday. If you get a ticket, you can tell the judge that you're sorry and that you were just going to "Praise the Lord".

this is still ongoing, although much more intermittent than it has been previously. Just this Sunday, there were four cars including one giant van blocking most of the width of the sidewalk making it difficult for more than one person to walk around and completely impossible for someone with a baby carriage to clear without having to cross into oncoming traffic. This really has to stop. It's ridiculous that some of the congregants, most from out of state, feel completely comfortable using public space for personal use. These people do not pay taxes on PA and, considering that most of the plates on the cars are from Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, etc, they contribute absolutely nothing to the local community throughout the week--just continued frustration for all of us who do live here and pay taxes in order to have a better neighborhood.
