Description
I am noticing a lot of issues being closed that are not actually being fixed. Many especially in downtown. What is the protocol here? If See Click Fix is to be a tool to fix problems, they should not be fixed until verified as closed by the City. Closing an issue by saying it is going to be done has been unacceptable because I am seeing closed issues in my area of downtown not being addressed.
When SCF was initiated I saw it as an invaluable tool. Now I see it is something the City despises. Items are being closed out upon recognition, and if individuals follow-up, they are not actually being fixed.
If SCF is going to be a tool for citizens to easily fix problems and the City to engage citizens to make Raleigh the best place to live, let's make sure that things that are reported are actually fixed if necessary.

But I agree in principle with the post. I can't tell my boss something is done just because I told somebody else to do it.

The recent sidewalk issue on Boylan Avenue has been closed by Raleigh when it hasn't even been touched. Same thing with multiple sidewalk issues on Glenwood Avenue in downtown.
The City closed a street loading issue on Snow Ave without it being addressed properly.
There are street sign issues in downtown that were closed as saying they would be fixed but were not.
SCF is a great tool if the City would not close the issue until they verify it is done.

Once an issue gets from SeeClickFix to a workorder in the city system, we do tend to close the issue in SeeClickFix as it is being tracked within the city organization.
Closed items can always be reopened which can and does happen when additional followup is required.
With regard to sidewalk repair, there is a protocol that is rather extensive- an inspector is dispatched to 1. Mark the area for repair and 2. Determine what type and extent of repairs need to be made. A sidewalk repair is then put on a schedule list to be prioritized and addressed.
It is debatable whether a SCF issue should be closed upon getting to a city work order, as we currently manage the system, or should be left open open until resolved. The system does work well overall. Thanks for everyone's comments.
