Foot traffic is also traffic, and pedestrians between Flynn Ave, and Lakeside Ave. shouldn't have to walk up to a thousand feet in either direction just to cross the street legally and safely. Waiting for pedestrians is not what causes motorized traffic to backup on Pine Street.
Quite simply, the usage of Pine Street has changed significantly over the past 5 years, and the pedestrian infrastructure has not kept pace with the increased pedestrian activity. Birchcliff would also be a nice spot for a signaled crossing.

I remember DPW talking about wanting to avoid 'stranded' pedestrians needing to walk significant distances to find a crosswalk only to then turn around and walk the other direction back toward their intended goal. This happens all the time trying to cross Pine toward the lake when coming from Birchcliff (the obvious route if you're on foot).
We have 9 children walking to Champlain elementary school. We all walk down Sears lane and need to cross Pine St. We often need to cross back to Sears Lane from the LakeChamplain Chocolates building. We need more cross walks on Pine St. There has been an increase in businesses and pedestrians over the years. Thanks.
So - what did technical service says? How bout an update 3.5 years later and no crosswalk. See they're adding cross walks and parking spots elsewhere today - how bout one there. It's only gotten worse since Pizza 41 opened.
