The pond is being treated today for excessive algae growth which keeps fowling the fountains under water pumps. The treatment will take half of the day to complete and the fountains will be repaired as soon there after as possible.
Great to see the progress - a number of frequent users of the park have added these observations and concerns - hoping these items can be added into a longer-term plan for the Park
1) Heavy growth in pond - dense, thick (objects now float atop this)
2) Accumulation of years of decaying algae
3) Heavy above ground growth surrounding pond
4) Invasive poison Ivy (dogs pass it on to their walkers!)
5) Foreign material in pond (bottles, balls, bags)
6) Invasive growth blocking favorite fishing areas
7) Grassy / weedy materials line edges of pond
8) Drainage / feed appeared showed blockage and oily substance
The Friends of Fellsmere Heights is having a Fellsmere Park clean up and Potluck this Saturday 8/1 at Fellsmere Pond. Dead fish in the water? I don't think that goes good with potluck.....this algae problem highlights the need for more maintenance/attention to the pond.
