This intersection is a confusing, dangerous mess. If it is not fixed, someone will get hurt. When coming west on U Street and trying to continue onto Florida

I don't know why this issue was closed. The intersection has not been fixed. To repeat:

1) Heading west on U street into this intersection, the lane indicators tell you to first get in the left lane (the right lane is to go straight only), but then as soon as you enter the intersection, the lane markers tell you to get in the right lane if you want to stay on Florida Ave. Very very dangerous.

2) To add to the problem, many vehicles enter the intersection from the right lane, regardless of the markings. Cars trying to merge suddenly from the left lane are blocked.

3) As a result, there are often two lanes of cars coming though the intersection onto Florida Ave heading west. However, parking is allowed in the right lane even during rush hours. This means that the traffic in the right lane has to force its way into the left lane, resulting in many near collisions.

I have lived here 15 years and through 3 various 'fixes' of this intersection. It is a complicated intersection and I don't see an easy fix that doesn't make it 10 times worse.

Agree. The timing is wrong for the lights, creating traffic tie-ups and a dangerous situation.
