We cannot hold a normal conversation in our backyard because of the excessively loud vehicles passing by. We are disturbed inside our home also as we are awakened at night by these loud vehicles. These vehicles are primarily motorcycles equipped with what are obviously aftermarket exhaust systems designed primarily, if not exclusively, to increase exhaust noise levels. I am primarily referring to the obviously illegal ‘straight pipes’ on motorcycles but my concern is not only with this illegal equipment but also other loud aftermarket exhaust systems on both motorcycles and other vehicles. My peace is being disturbed and my quality of life is being negatively impacted. The police departments in Middletown, both City and State, seem to be ignoring obvious violations of existing Connecticut General Statute 14-80 and current motorcycle laws regarding exhaust noise levels.
