The Street Department is coming behind the Electric Department grading, forming and pouring the new sidewalk. The Electric crew has stopped work on the southbound sidewalk while the Street Department completes the northbound sidewalk and catches up to them. We do appreciate everybody's patience as we complete this project.

This still does not explain why neither side is now accessible, should work on the Southbound side not been halted or at least stopped where the other side was finished so people can walk on this? This pedestrian path is vital to residents in the town and this seems like a mistake. Please do not close this issue until it has been properly addressed.

This is a work in progress and due to weather it has caused delays. The re-pouring of the sidewalk was interrupted due to the rain that we have had over the last several weeks. Therefore they have stopped the construction on the southbound sidewalk until the Street crew catches back up to the electric crew.

Another one of those, "left hand, not knowing what the right had is doing." ;-) I walk through there also, but I just risk my life and walk on the roadway, close to the curb; and hopefully, the cars do not run over me. I am patiently waiting the conclusion of this project, including the new lighting. It will be a beautiful addition to the Historic District.

It does seem as though it has become one of those money-based decisions made from behind a desk without any real awareness of practical consequences and/or safety.

Wow look, the weather has been clear and the sidewalk replacement is catching up with the first crew. FYI if the sidewalk is closed you don't walk in the road you walk on the other sidewalk across the street! Great job Wake Forest on making North Main look great, now if the dog walkers would start picking up their poop would be even better!

WF4Life thanks for your amazing insight. So, where do you suggest that pedestrians walk when the sidewalks on neither side of the street are accessible as stated in the original comments?

Richard you do know there are sidewalks all over Town and they connect to North Main. Life will not end if you or anybody else can't walk on North Main for a few weeks. Head south on North Main and walk through the Seminary campus and on down South Main Street that's what we do! But you sound like one of those people that complains about everything but does nothing to improve anything. Have a happy walk!
