The city planners need to pay attention to the concerns of people who note the concern regarding this intersection. Why is was changed in the first place escapes me. It definitely needs to have a light installed here s d if they time them correvy it would not impede traffic flow, just gresy increase the safety here.

I'm so glad to see this post/comments as I've been addressing this issue before the stops signs came back down (and also the last time they were removed). I agree with the comments in this post and have emailed Mayor Berry and Counselor Lewis concerning this situation. The latest news following a meeting the Home Owner Association Manager and a rep from Counselor Lewis' office had with a "city traffic engineer" around the 21st of July (2015) at this intersection is that the city plans to trim more trees and remove additional bushes (and a boulder) from the median (but as of today I have not noticed any movement/action on this yet). Supposedly some trees and bushes were trimmed (and may have removed some) before the city re-removed the stop signs, but I never noticed any difference in it helping to make a safe turn from Ventana Road onto Universe. Also, the city moved one of the stop signs forward hoping this would help with the line of site--in my opinion I didn't notice any difference on this either. I think a stop light, circle, or putting the 4 way stop sign back in is a better option than trimming trees and removing bushes as I foresee pretty much everything would have to be removed in order to have a good line of site, and like another citizen mentioned in the original post about being in a smaller car that it may still be hard to see past the hill in the road (plus the road curves--so this may be an issue as well with being able to see even after some of the obstructions are cleared from the median).

Well written! I would hate to see the landscaping removed because I don't think it would make this any safer at all. You still have to pull out quite a ways especially turning south onto Universe from Ventana. Speeding is a real problem through here also and at least putting back the 4 way would hopefully slow it down. The city has created a very dangerous situation here and they have been called on this numerous times. Like I've said before it is just setting it up for a very bad accident and with school buses and students at CNM going through here, it's a terrible situation. What else can we go to get someone to listen that has any authority?

The plants have been trimmed but still drivers have to pull out past the stop sign into the intersection to ensure a clear line of site. It's better but not the greatest/safest. I hope this is a short-term solution as I foresee this intersection will be worse during the winter (if it snows a lot) and this spring with plant overgrowth in the median. I’ve responded to Counselor Lewis' assistant and the Home Owner Association Manger, and aslo cc’d Mayor Berry and Counselor Lewis regarding this concern. I suggest others do the same if they/you are not completely satisfied with the current fix.
