Code Compliance sent a letter to the property owner og 1624 James on August 10th. The owner has seven days to comply. At the end of the seven days Code will reinspect and if it has not been complied with the City will have their contractor clean-up the site.

Thank you Carol Wood. The home owners and renters in this neighborhood have always taken pride in keeping yards looking good and homes in good shape. The 2 rental homes at 1624 and 1616 in the last year have gone from OK to being eyesores with tenants that home owners are wary of approaching. Any conversation with the adult tenants regarding children leaving toys all over the neighborhood and in home owners yards has been met with anger and its "none of your business." The adults scream, yell and curse at each other and the children. Because we love Lansing, my husband and I bought our retirement home in Old Town to be part of an area that was vibrant and up and coming. We now wonder why we did that and hope it wasn't a mistake. I usually have family stay for a week at our home at the end of July to vacation and enjoy the area. This year we went to a hotel in the Detroit area to visit because I did not want my grandchildren exposed to the yelling, cursing and the mess at 1624 James. Slumlords are ruining the hard work that is being done in Lansing neighborhoods. The landlords that own these properties and others in the city need to be more closely monitored.

it doesn't appear the city of lansing really cares how rental properties in lansing are managed. I really should not have bought a home within the city limits. I doubt I could give my house away with the condition of the rental properties at 1616 and 1624 James St., Lansing, MI 48906 Both of those rentals need to be condemned as they are in deplorable condition. This once beautiful neighborhood a block from the Turner Dodge Mansion in Old Town has been ruined by TWO RENTAL HOUSES. Disgusting.
