I agree. Large traffic backups aren't due to an accident or disabled vehicle, rather the extremely large pothole at the exit to 95 south of the Shockoe Valley Bridge. Additionally, a 2nd pothole once you're on the exit just before merging onto 95 South from that exit is creating another slow down. Thank you for your assistance.
PLEASE! FIX THIS "canyon" it causes major tracffic backups every day, sometimes 3 miles long. The really BAD thing is this pot hole is there ( though not quite as bad ) year round. IT'S ACTUALLY NOT A POT "hole" for it takes up a whole section of the road...... No matter how slowly you try to drive over it you still get a major JOLT, for there is no going around it. FOR YEARS the city's maintenance crew has not been able to get this one right. Don't PATCH it, dig it up an REPAVE IT! Every day for 2 weeks now it has turned a 20 minute comute into an hour drive, this morning I was stuck in traffic for 25 minutes ,AGAIN, because of this problem. PUT 10 good men on this and get it fixed! Enough already! I Thank You , My Truck will thank you, as well as the hundreds of other comuters each day.
AND one more thing, The state of the roads in Virginia have become quite embarrising, Especially here in the Richmond area. Travelers come in from the airport up 64 west amid the POTHOLES, TRASH ON THE ROADWAYS, FROM THOSE LARGE CONTAINER TRUCKS, AND THE LITTERERS (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE), UNSIGHTLY BILL BOARDS, ie: PAPERMOON (CAN SHE HAVE HER BIG "O" SOMEWHERE ELSE?) EVEN HOOTERS, (FAMILY RESTURANT MY A--).. UNCUT GRASS, ETC. CAN WE GET A "VA IS FOR LOVERS" BILLBOARD IF WE MUST HAVE THEM. MY GOODNESS WE MANAGED TO GET IT CLEANED UP BRIEFLY FOR THE QUEEN OF ENGLAND, NOT SO MUCH FOR US COMMONERS.........HOW EMBARRISSING.... THIS ISN'T VEGAS, WE USED TO HAVE SUCH PRETTY VIEWS FROM OUR HIGHWAYS...
PLEASE FIX!!! Shockoe Valley bridge is a major traveled road and it is a shame that it is taking so long to repair. Traffic is backed up past the Nine Mile Rd exit (((Ding Ding Ding))) ring a bell?!?!?! Well it should that the matter should be expedited!
This is creating major backups - 3 miles long. I am late to work everyday and am already commuting from williamsburg. This is making me leave even early to get to work on time yet somehow I am still late because the back up gets worse EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!!!!! IT IS TERRIBLE!!!!
This reported pothole should be called a potsection! It's probably damaging my vehicle everytime I pass over the area. There is not really a way around it, and the bumps are teeth-rattling.
Interstate 64 westbound at exit 190 (Interstate 95 south).
This is a MAJOR tie-up every day that the city can't afford to ignore.
Suggestion: Don't "cold patch" it (temporary fix). Heat up the asphalt to as hot as you can get it (over 200 degrees should do it), and tamp it down good. Toss some sand on it and drive on it right away.
Or,
E-mail me and I'll put you in contact with our asphalt contractor.
Also, as Richmond is the Capitol of Virginia, you need to grab some of that stimulus money and re-pave most/all of the city. The condition of the Richmond roads, in general, is worse than the roads in New York City.
And the roads in New York are terrible.
I agree. It is now taking a good 45 minutes to get over Shockoe Valley Bridge and onto I-95 in the left lane. Each car has to almost totally come to a stop to cross over this huge pothole (you can't go around it so you must go through it as slowly as you can) and this is creating a MAJOR backup on 64W. Please fix this as soon as possible.
Please fix this pothole! it's no better than it was 3 days ago??? It looks like multiple potholes and commuters have to go 2-3 MPH to keep from shredding their tires and my alignment is shot because of all the cities potholes. The traffic is so backed up every morning because of it.
