After one week we will reinspect and if necessary issue an enforcement letter.

We can't do anything about the utility pole but we've asked the homeowner to trim the hedge and suggested replacing it with a smaller plant. We will reinspect in one week prior to official enforcement action.

Spoke with property owner on the phone who was happy to prune as directed. We'll inspect later this week.

The hedge has been trimmed, but it still hovers into the sidewalk space. And shouldn't it really be trimmed even further back, not just to the edge of the sidewalk? That is my reading of the code regarding right of way. It's not the homeowner's fault that there's a utility pole there, but pedestrians, joggers, people with strollers need more "elbow room" on this stretch.

I walked by there this morning, with my stroller and dog, and it's still impossible to pass this property without getting swiped by the bushes.

In fact, there are overgrown sidewalks all over Narberth that make it impossible to pass freely with a stroller. It's really annoying to have to go out into the street all the time to avoid bushes, trash cans, and recycling cans and bags every time you're out for a walk. Oh, and another gripe - the orange no parking signs that Brubacher leaves on the sidewalks also make the sidewalks too narrow to pass with a stroller. Kvetching complete!

One thing we have learned from SeeClickFix is just how much of a problem overgrown vegetation on sidewalks is. The platform gives us a way to record these issues against others and get a sense of what is a priority or something we need to address. Kvetching welcome.

Would there be room in the next Borough newsletter for a short but clear statement such as, "Keep Narberth Walkable! Trim trees, hedges, and foliage to a height clearance of 8' and away from the edge of the sidewalk to allow some elbow room. Remember that the legal right-of-way extends beyond the sidewalk. Walkers, joggers, and users of strollers and wheelchairs thank you!"
