We are currently reviewing this. However, it is not unusual for westbound Commerce to be backed up a mile in the afternoon -- typical where a one-lane road opens to 3 lanes at the intersection creating large gaps.

The problem is not the signal. The problem is the capacity of the roads. The roads are not able to accommodate the level of traffic present during rush hours. There has been tremendous development in this area in recent decades. That development does not result in any revenue to address the roads which must carry the traffic they generate. This problem is reflected by the massive traffic congestion we face across Oakland County during rush hours. The solution is to increase the capacity of the roads, typically by widening. Today we have a need for nearly $2 billion worth of capacity improvements in Oakland County just on county roads, and virtually no money available to address that need.
