I have two school age children that have taken to riding their bikes to school during the nice weather. I have some serious concerns about their safety when it comes to crossing Hartford street at the end of Lamplight. Their is a crosswalk their with no light system to warn cars speeding up the hill/blindcorner that it is even there. I have watch my kids cross this intersection many time since schools start and it is a terrifying experience. They sit there for 2-3 min. Till cars coming towards Framingham on Hartford finally realize they are there then the cars coming up the hill blow by them like they don't exist. They usually find an opening when there is no cars coming from the Framingham side and head across. I hold my breath every time hoping that no car comes from the Framingham side as I have just watched them speed thru that intersection time and time again as my kids sit waiting to go. Many parents in our large double courted community won't allow there kids to ride their bikes or even walk to school or friends house because of this issue. I want my kids to be independent and get exercise and just be safe enjoying riding their bikes. I'm not sure this is the right forum for this issue but there needs to be a better crosswalk signal system put in place here so kids in our neighborhood can bike and walk in safety.
