The peaks noise levels at our balcony, right outside the gens (several floors up), are equivalent to heavy traffic, and even the continuous, sustained levels are equivalent to freeway traffic!

we have been hearing these generators for over a week now, two buildings away and with windows closed.. no idea why they are there or why they are on 24/7. do we need to call FPL to investigate? who permits this activity and what is the purpose of this app if our issues go unanswered and unresolved?

The noise is unbearable for neighbors and fumes are deadly not only for ears but brain damage.
If a town official lived next to this they would have been moved by now.
Why would you need a generator for an evacuated building?
We choose to live on ocean not a construction site with generators this is like war zone in a third world country living next to Park Avenue Bal Harbour this would never happen between 96 and 102 and Collins never!

The carbon monoxide level is too high for neighbors inhaling these gas fumes 24/7 is deadly!

The Carlisle on the Ocean building, 9195 Collins Avenue has been evacuated and was declared an unsafe structure by the Town of Surfside Building Department on September 26, 2015 due to an internal flood event which damaged the building's electrical system. National Water Restoration was contracted to mitigate the water damage in the building and are working extended hours under the Town Code's emergency provisions to prevent further damage. On the contrary, the location of the generates DOES pose risk to the neighbors: There's plenty of medical and scientific evidence that toxic diesel fumes 24/7 directly over and into ur balconies and windows would indeed affect our health. Not to mention the high noise, about which there's also tons of scientific evidence, including the effect it has on the endocrine system.

Therefore, we are hereby requesting that Surfside City Officials DEMANDS that National Water Restoration MOVES THEIR GENERATORS TO DEEP UNDER CARLISLE'S GARAGE, RIGHT NOW.

That's all we're requiring from the city.
Failing that, a lawsuit would be the last resort… but against who? Against the city, for neglecting to help us? Against The Carlisle? Against National Water Restoration?

No matter what, this horrible situation cannot and will not continue indefinitely in this manner, a whole week has passed and no end in sight.

Information received from the emergency generator supplier has identified the units to be Cummins Diesel 300 kw models. The published data states that the units sound level at full load measured from 7 meters is 72 decibels. The Florida Building Code does not establish any distance provisions for portable generators and as close as we can get is the provisions for permanent generator installations requiring the exhaust be located no less than 10 feet from any opening to a structure. At this time the estimated distance from the portable generator's exhaust and the face of the Waverly building is approximately 100 feet.
