This has been a problem growing for the past two years. The police show up, the area is cleared for about two weeks, then they start coming around again. There are also several homeless teens now sharing the bridge with the junkies as well. It is an issue I am not sure what we can do to stop this for good here.

Definitely a problem that needs resolution. I have called 242 cops with no change in the situation. The trash,abandoned shopping carts in the trail, human waste, drug usage is only getting worse and the homeless/drug addict activity is taking over the area. We have some of the nicest bike and pedestrian path systems in the country and I don't like seeing it abused and taken over this way. It definitely leaves a bad impression on the city of Albuquerque for the people who stay at one of the hotels close to the path and might be out for a run or walk along the path and experience the homeless camp and activity. The city or state needs to keep this kind of situation from occurring.

The City of ABQ has received this issue. It is registered as service request #14290049 .

This should have been reopened, the camp, carts, trash all is still there today as far as I could tell nothing has been changed.

242-COPS has been no help, Just called it in again and I will keep calling it in. The city and APD needs to do something before someone using the path gets hurt on one of the carts left on the path or one of campers starts a fire under I-40 and shuts down the interstate.
