Its been over 331 days and nothing has been done. The fence has been broken in 3-4 more places.

Please fix this....the park looks bad with the broken fence

I'm so sorry you're frustrated! We provide the city with the tools to engage residents but we do not oversee local government operations and do not have the power to compel governments to respond to specific issues. Sorry - for some reason our filters didn't pick this one up until flagged for us. Unfortunately decorative fencing like this is a tough project, and something that is a problem city-wide. Almost two years ago we identified a company that could fabricate a mold, last year we received a test section that could be installed (same fence on green). There was a slight problem with fabrication. It has all been worked out now and both the granite pillars and fence sections are being fabricated. Unfortunately, it is a long lead time - we do not anticipate shipment until late spring/early summer.

With the help of URI and the West River Neighborhood Association we are trying to maintain this park and the surrounding neighborhood. It would be a shame to let it fall by the wayside and continue to deteriorate. Maintenance is so important for quality of life and to feel that the city cares about its residents. It may not seem like a major issue in the grand scheme of city life but it is part of what makes a great city great.
When this was first reported there was 2 areas that were damaged. At this time there are probably at least 5 sections with issues. It would be great if Parks could really walk the perimeter and assess the areas that are in need of repair. Thank you.

Our landscape architect walked in late fall when the final bid documents for the fencing were being prepared and all the damaged sections at that time were included in the bid. Our welder retired in August and the Civil Service Commission will certify a new list of eligible candidates to fill the position today, part of the welder's job is to make the small level repairs to this type of fencing.
