I think that we should all start a petition to have temporary speed bumps installed during the non-winter months. There are way too many kids playing on the street and people driving down Mercier Av at crazy speeds sometimes. There was a child killed on Mercier Av about 40 years ago and his mother still lives on the street.

I would like to say thanks to the Bristol PD for putting up a speed check on Mercier Av. I would have liked to have seen it up for longer than a few days and I would still like to see speed bumps installed. I appreciate the quick response and please continue to catch speeders and drug addicts using our street as a cut through and a safe haven.

I have called the Bristol PD complaining about speeders and drug addicts parking and doing drugs on our street a few times. It seems that when we commented on here someone listened and did something about our concerns. I just hope they continue to patrol and stop the speeders and addicts that use our neighborhood as a cut through and parking area to do drugs going forward. Just want to say thanks again to whoever read my post and helped us out.

Charlie, we'll be doing something about getting speedbumps later this month. Petition whatever it takes we aren't alone on the street wanting this. I was quite surprised at the quick response from the mayor. He emailed me, called and got the traffic division involved immediately. But something permanent needs to happen.

The problem of speeders on Mercier Av has not been solved and people are still driving down the street at 100mph sometimes. I gave up trying to get something done about the problem. The city doesn't care and its probably going to take someones child getting hit by one of these maniacs before something is done. The traffic division and the mayor have done nothing to help us out on this...Thanks for nothing!!

I been complaining about the same thing on the corner of Tulip & Jacob st. for a long time seems they don't care anymore....

The Bristol police have recently set up a speed checker on Mercier Av. The speed checker was up for 2 days and people were still speeding past the speed checker. While I appreciate the effort of the police department the only way to stop the speeders is to ticket these maniacs on a regular basis,close the end of the street to make it a dead end or put speed bumps on Mercier Av. Thanks again to the Bristol police for making an effort in reducing the amount of speeders but a lot more still needs to be done about these speeders. There are many small children on this street an unfortunately a child was killed before because of a speeder about 40 years ago on Mercier Av. Hopefully this never happens again.

Nothing has changed. People fly down Mercier Ave doing anywhere from 45-100 mph daily. People use this street as cut through to beat the lights on Rt6 and the police are aware and NEVER pull anyone over for speeding on this street. There are kids playing on this street and these people speed by them with total disregard for the kids safety. Bristol needs to either close off the top of the street at auto zone, put speed bumps in or patrol the street more. God forbid another kid gets killed on this street again. A few of us have complained in the past and you see the police for a day or two but then it's back to same way it was before. Frustrating!!!

I still see the same thing, I just don't know what to do anymore, the city clearly does not care about traffic enforcement. They will just come to clean up the mess after something happens.

7 years after the original post and it’s the same old thing. Thanks for nothing city of Bristol. People are still flying down the street doing 100 miles an hour. The lazy do nothing police need to do they’re jobs. Why isn’t anything being done about the speeders and drug addicts that use our street to inject and sell they’re drugs? Why?

I started this post over 10 years ago and its the same old story. People speed on Mercier Ave sometimes at speeds over 100 mph and nothing ever gets done about this dangerous issue. There are children that play on this street. Don’t bother calling the police about this issue because they never do anything about it.
