Just a quick note, it was brought to my attention, by neighbors, that the reason that cars in the Methuen, Mort, June Street area park on the side walk is due a history of cars getting damaged by passing vehicles. I have noticed that car’s do go excessively fast due to lack of a stop sign on Methuen and 11st. There is currently no stop sign between 10 St and Beacon st allowing cars to race over ¼ mile through a residential area without any traffic stops. Maybe a solution to the cars parking on the side walk is adding a traffic stop to regulate traffic, avoiding malicious damage to members in the community.

I know that cars parked in the street in many areas get damaged by passing cars, but if the cars were parked in the street instead of the sidewalks, traffic would generally move slower and people could then walk on the sidewalks were it is safer.

Cars belong on the street or in driveways.In every city, and town , in America. Lowell like other cities have ordinances against people parking their cars, on public sidewalks, but unfortunately Lowell does not enforce their public safety rules.

The same thing happens on Richards Street, beside the Christian Hill Reservoir/park area (near the intersection of Richards and Christian). The "sidewalk" is actually paved (not cement, and none of those nice granite curbs), so I think that adds to the problem. It gets even more dangerous when there's snow everywhere. I'd be glad to see some enforcement -- even a round of "reminder" kind of tickets (not necessarily fines, but just a "hey, you shouldn't be doing this" kind of thing).
