Hello,

I am not sure to whom I should address this request, and I would appreciate knowing if I should be contacting someone else.

I would like for someone to install a collar or shield on the street light in front of our house. Since replacing the bulb with LEDs, the bright light leaks into our house at night, even though we have room-darkening blinds and even though we are set back from the road. I think that the light head is angled down in such a way that it shines towards our house as well as on to the street. I know other cities and towns have done this for residents, and I’m hoping that Framingham can do it as well.

It’s good to see that the Town is looking for ways to save money, including installing LED streetlights throughout Framingham. In fact, I have just recently replaced most of my incandescent bulbs in my own house to LED’s, so I know the benefits they offer. I also understand that many Police Departments prefer LED’s because they offer truer color fidelity and assist in identifying cars and suspects at night. However, there is also a quality of life and nuisance aspect to these new lights that must not be ignored. I am sure that with a collar or shield, all needs can be accommodated.
