I think that it is a misuse of this system for staff to declare a matter "closed" while the problem still exists. Opening a case is not the same as solving the problem. The matter should not be classified as "closed" until the issue is resolved. If a danger exists on the property and city officials declare the matter as closed merely by assigning staff to it, that would raise a whole host of issues.

Thank you for following up on this and letting me know you will be sending an officer out.
I look forward to hearing that the well has been sealed and locked in accordance with state law.
And thank you to the concerned citizen who left the comment that this should not be "closed."
That makes sense as it is a community concern at this point. So I'm going to click "reopen this issue." Perhpas you could post the resolution on this site once the well has been properly sealed.

As the officer has not yet been out, I'll leave this open- that said, we will continue to close them on the site once it's acknowledged & a case is opened. Ok, I went out today & the well is covered. The cover is not new, is a bit heavy & sturdy. No one is going to fall in.. The case is closed as invalid.
