This is a problem not only for the barrels on trash day and the sidewalk, but an equal problem for many in finding a place on their property to stow them..I have a small lot and do not want it to be used primarily for trash receptacles. The space that worked before does not work now. It will be very expensive to have a fenced area built to shield them, and will take up most of my space...

Welcome to the new Salem. It will be an interesting winter. People also do not realize that the bins must be spaced 2.5' apart and 5' from cars also parked on the street, as well as at least 3' from the property line. I had to prune my trees or the "arm" would have removed limbs. You are correct space is a problem and these bins are not particularly attractive. BTW people have received stickers on the bins stating that they were not properly placed.. Are we having fun yet with this10 year contract?

The carts are generally no wider than barrels and bins had been previously and people should be sure not to set them out too early the day prior to collection. Thank you for the feedback.
