UDOT Traffic Signals assigned this issue to UDOT Region 2

FYI this intersection has two issues. First, cars going eastbound on 13th S turning left onto 7th E (to go north) have no turn signal so traffic backs up on 13th S very quickly on the weekends and during rush hour. Second, cars going northbound on 7th E turning left on 13th S (to go west) have a turn signal that is too brief so traffic backs up quickly and cars often use neighborhood streets like Harrison Ave as a way to avoid the intersection entirely.

1300 South and 700 East need turn signals going north and south bound on 700 East. 1700 South and 700 East need turn signals going north and south bound on 700 East. I sit through both of those lights several times while trying to turn onto 700 East to and from work every day.

I would like to add to this problem the lights at 1700 S and 700 E. It is much the same as 1300 S and 700 E. It is very frustrating to sit at a light through multiple cycles plus more and more people are running the red lights because they do not want to sit at those lights for any longer. Please turn on or start using the green arrow for turning left off 700 E to go east or west on 1700 S. and do the same for 1300. Then add a green arrow light for going north and south when turning onto 700 from 1300 S and 1700 S.

The traffic backed up on 1700 S and 1300 S. while waiting to get through the light is backed up 1 to 2 blocks and then people are starting to cut through our neighborhood, which already does not have very many stop signs on 600 E and they are often speeding and not acknowledging the kids and dog walkers in the neighborhood.

Thank you for your feedback regarding this intersection. We discussed this intersection in our traffic engineer's meeting and will proceed with some adjustments. The left-turn signal timing will be adjusted on the weekends to help alleviate the northbound congestion on 700 E. Before we can install a left-turn signal for EB & WB on 1300 S, a traffic study will need to be completed to determine if it meets the criteria. It takes up to 3 months for the entire process of collecting data, preparing the study, and reviewing the results, after which time we will make a decision on whether to add the left-turn signal
