Description

Plastic bollards are needed where the road divide occurs between H St and Florida Avenue. Why? To stop drivers going east on H Street NE from making an illegal left turn up onto Florida Avenue. Traffic going east on H St toward the starburst backs up behind a car waiting to make this illegal turn up Florida Avenue. Traffic gets backed up behind them, cars are waiting in the special single lane to turn onto Bladensburg road but can't drive around these drivers holding up traffic by waiting to make this illegal turn onto Florida Ave. The result can be cars on H St are backed up a block to 14th & H waiting for this single car to make the illegal turn. Traffic can be blocked even worse because of the regular heavy traffic merging from Florida Ave driving south into 14th where many cars (legally) turn into the H St NE east-bound traffic. A single car attempting to make the illegal u-turn from H up Florida Avenue can contribute to horrible backups, particularly during rush hour.
