I have also noticed that it's not just the cars going towards Golden Hill that are the problem - those leaving seem to be in even more of a hurry!

Just about everyday the cars speed down Glen street though the stop sign unto Greenkill ave at full speed. The midnight hour is the worst. I have had property damage, cars stuck in my driveway, cars stuck in a snowbank, and fenderbenders at this intersection every year. During the winter months due to the downhill icy road it can be a daily hazard. A traffic light is the only solution.

This is a copy of an email I sent to various Ulster County Elected Officials in May 2015 (Mayor, Executive, Alderman, etc) I am working towards pursing making Glen Street a dead-end. I believe this is a real possibility which results in the most logical solution - divert all traffic to route 32. The distance between the two roads is the EXACT same (do a simple google search and see).

I recently purchased a home on Glen St in Kingston. I love the area, the culture, progress and potential this city and region has to offer.

However, traffic on Glen St is excessive for a residential street. I've spoken with many residents on the street and they have informed me that this has been an ongoing problem for years. There are major employers at the end of the street and between them have hundreds of employees.

Specifically, the Golden Hill Nursing Home has over 300 residents living there 24/7. Employees and family members constantly drive up and down the street, often times at speeds well in excess of 30mph. I've observed on several occasions 50+ cars an hour - more during shift changes at the nursing home.

With that said, I believe a traffic study is warranted on Glen St. I believe this can be accomplished at little to no cost via Ulster County.

My hope is that you'll please bring this issue to the attention of those that can work towards a permanent solution. I believe increasing signage to encourage drivers to use the route 32 entrance would be effective along with reducing the speed limit and increasing enforcement.

Please let's address this problem now before someone gets hurt.

I can be reached directly and would love to have an opportunity to speak directly with someone regarding this matter. I've tried addressing this issue with the Kingston police department and they've been very helpful and assisted last year by placing a traffic speed device but I don't think this is a permanent solution.

I've also reached out to my local alderman as well last year and while he listened and offered to help little has been accomplished. I firmly believe there is a valid cause for action and with your help I'm confident we can provide a solution that will enhance the quality of life for residents in that area along with ensuring the safety of those that utilize the roadway to walk with their children to simply improve their health.
