Code enforcement has been made aware of the building/property blight conditions. This SCF issue was opened to keep the community updated concerning this matter.

Is this blight building ever going to be addressed by the County? Over a year since residents banded together to turn this blight building in and no results - NONE. Please wake up County of Alameda building and code enforcement. All we want is for our neighborhood to be free of blight. Do Fairview residents not deserve such service?

The community is wanting to know why a horse stable is more important than fixing blight that is negatively affecting our community! Speak up and out on this important issue to every county official. Zoning is silent on this matter come to find out!!!!

The building department for the county reported that all building related permits have expired for this property. The process to clean up blight is daunting and long. We will keep pushing the issue and speaking before the BZA in public meetings.

Seems the county put a small lien on this property recently. What are the next steps since the issues are just growing on this one?

I went to rent a home behind this property recently but the blight that plagues lower Fairview Avenue is just too much to live peacefully and take pride in the area. It is apparent a handful of property owners are ignoring ordinances and causing unnecessary problems for the neighborhood.

Boarding horses is a big under the table money maker in Fairview! Nothing can change this.

This is a busy property with a lot of people coming and going daily/nightly. When the weather is good it's even busier. The county is aware that guests to that barn do not live on the property. I have heard for years that horse boarding under the table is a big problem in Fairview and now horse side businesses are here to stay. This is because the Board of Supervisors allow a large number of horses (pets) on bigger lots, so its easy to get away with. What a shame the county can't get a handle on this. I have sat through many hours of community meetings where this topic comes up over and over again.

I'm not alone on this one. Problem properties are on the rise on lower Fairview Avenue. I walk this area daily and have seen more illegal structures, parking on front lawns, inoperative vehicles, dumping on private properties, blight buildings, abandoned homes, and loitering from people that don't live here but have horses stabled here.

I had no idea this neighboring property had so many issues. I was told by Tona Henninger with the County years ago that this property was being developed into 5 parcels and so code enforcement was going to give the property owners (there were several family members involved) extra time to rectify the dangerous blight garage. They did respond to the large pile of trash back behind the home though. Fast forward several years -- still no development, well except for the land selling and a new barn build. The large pile of construction material left over from the barn build is a sight for sore eyes. Not sure why it's all been left there to rot for so long. If it wasn't for the fact that I can see it from my home -- I wouldn't care. It sure is nice to see others care about the area.
