Unfortunately we are unable to install public street lights along this roadway. Homeward Road is not an accepted public roadway and therefore we are restricted from expending public funds for the installation of lights on this private road.

Thank you for your response. However I am curious to know if a street light can be installed at least near the intersection of the homeward ln and west view road. Also, is it because Homeward ln is not a through street does it not qualify for a public road? All the families living in this neighborhood would probably appreciate having a street light here.

Westview Road is not a public roadway as well, so we could not install a street light at this location. The Board of Selectmen and Town Meeting must formally act before a roadway may become publicly accepted. This has not happened for the roadways in this neighborhood. Typically the private developer that constructed the road would request acceptance.

Thank you for your response. What is the process for bringing these types of requests to the Board of Selectmen and Town Meeting? I am sure we could organize some residents to make this request.

The best approach may be to contact the Selectmen's/Town Administrator's Office at 508-647-6410. They may suggest some form of signed petition or give better guidance.
