Great idea for this stretch of Edgewood. There is not a need for both lanes on each side to be dedicated towards cars (there is not the traffic demand). Putting a bike lane on Edgewood would make things feel much more safe. I've been hit by a car before on Edgewood, it would be nice if it was more bike friendly.

I agree, citizen. The main benefit of this measure would be reducing speeds, which would help drivers and pedestrians, and property values in the Edgewood area.

There are many ways to accomplish this - we need to look at some of the more progressive traffic design solutions being used in cities around the United States, referenced in the NACTO manual below and elsewhere.

Agreed. What section of Edgewood are you thinking here, exactly, though? It seems like it could be easily done from Yale Avenue through Edgewood Park, past the Boulevard all the way to Winthrop. I never see that much traffic here as to warrant two lanes in each direction. Through the park, I believe there's even enough width to retain a lane of parking on one side for when soccer is in session.

Yes, Chris, I think that entire section would be warranted. Even at rush hour, there is not enough traffic to justify the two lanes, particularly on the section from Boulevard to Yale.
