Great, thank you. What I've noticed is when traffic backs up (from the light on Central), cars will generally wait appropriately and not block the intersection. However, when the crosswalk counter is nearing zero they don't want to miss the light, so they bolt into the intersection, I assume thinking the southbound lane will move. When it doesn't, they are trapped, blocking the intersection.

There is a similar situation at Atlantic and Webster which has a much higher volume of pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

Cars speeding up and running red lights trying to beat the "countdown clock" is a similar problem on grand. I realize it might be expensive but the city should consider replacing the countdown crosswalks with a push to use crosswalk. When no pedestrians are present their will be less temptation for drivers because their won't be a countdown timer.

Island traffic conditions have dramatically deteriorated over the past year. Could the police chief himself please address this rather than having his secretary and subordinates do so? The stock answer of "increased enforcement" no longer rings true.
