This year, because the water levels in the creek are so low, we have more growth in this location and the smaller scrubby willows have been able to grow a little taller. When we have our next small flood on the creek, as is typical in the spring, these smaller scrubs will be washed away by water or torn away by the ice pack. We will continue to monitor the trees. However, before any trees are removed we will have to assess the impact to the floodplain in the City. Tree removal tends to simply shift flooding problems into new areas rather than solving them. -Tricia Sandahl
