This sidewalk is icy because the business owner neglected to equip its warehouse with proper gutters. Ironically their business is to sell industrial pipes! Please see by yourself the result of this negligence on the attached picture. In the winter the sidewalk is permanently icy. Any other season a huge puddle is created on the road leading pedestrians to be splashed by vehicles passing by. Pedestrian traffic on this sidewalk is significant with kids going to school, parents pushing strollers to the nearby daycare centers, and commuters walking to work. This is a fixable issue and I would urge the city of Cambridge to contact this business owner to remedy to this situation. Their might even be an article in the building code enforcing proper evacuation of rain/snow water as pouring it on the sidewalk is not good solution.
