Description
At the crosswalks going across Howe, at 40th and 41st, the street is very cracked and full of holes. This is really hard for me in my wheelchair. I see older people with walkers often in these intersections too and it's very dangerous. The crossings at 40th are particularly bad. there should be painted crosswalks and level pavement.

While acknowedging the reality that prompted the PWD boilerplate answer to pothole requests posted above, as a neighbor, I would like to point out that this request has some factors that should elevate it on the list:
• This neighborhood has an unusually high number of residents with disabilities and mobility problems, due to the large number of senior housing facilities: Piedmont Gardens, Baywood Apartments, and Satelite Senior Homes on Linda Ave and on Panama Court.
• This intersection is at the other end of the bock from Kaiser's Oakland hospital and medical offices, meaning another large population of people with health issues. Not only do one in three Oakland residents receive their medical care through Kaiser, but a number of the seniors in the neighborhood are Kaiser members, either through their retirement programs or Kaiser's Senior Advantage insurance.
• This intersection is one block west of the busy commercial district of Piedmont Avenue, and immediately across the street from the city parking lot that serves area businesses. Hundreds of Kaiser visitors and staff walk this area daily between Kaiser and Piedmont Avenue restaurants and services. Even able-bodied pedestrians may fall and injure themselves.
PWD should consider these factors in prioritizing this request. Thank you.
