Send a thanks to the homeless advocates and tell them to clean this dangerous crap up.

First how are they qualified to hand them out and they are not trained to handle hazardous waste clean up. All the people I know that have diabetes need a prescription to get syringes. This is wrong on to many levels. This is a major public health and safety hazard.

Good question..who are these people who are handing these syringes out. Are they qualified? Where are they getting them from and who is allowing this to happen without some type of supervision and how were they told to dispose of them. This just seems like a dangerous situation.

Exactly how did we get from needles mixed in with demolition waste on the sidewalk to the homeless and needle exchange? Am I missing something? And btw, you do not need a prescription to purchase insulin needles from a Pharmacy in the state of CA.

The City allows the homeless advocates to pass out syringes. As to how they acquire them I do not know. My wife is diabetic and she has jump though hoops to them. There is no exchange and that is the problem. Also the city considers these hazardous waste and PWD employees will not pick them up.

I doubt very much if a diabetic threw these on the street. Ask people who clean up encampments, there are needles laying around usually. Have not heard if there is a needle exchange or not, all I know is that needles are being dumped and they need to be picked up.
