Agreed sara. This stretch should have been repaved years ago and is unacceptable that a road in the middle of the City-nonetheless bearing the very name of the City-has remained in this condition for so long. It is sad that it is really a symbol of everything this City represents. The road also floods badly every time there is any kind of decent rainfall which means a drainage project should have been undertaken ages ago as well. In any case, you should have some relief to know that this stretch is scheduled to be completely repaved within this fiscal year (which ends June 30th) with prop. 409 funds according to this map: https://maps2.tucsonaz.gov/prop409/ You can find more info at the main site for the bond projects here too: https://www.tucsonaz.gov/street-bonds Take care.
No prob, sara. If you click on the lines, it will pop up additional details and the fiscal year the project is supposed to take place, fingers crossed obviously haha.
Sam Hughes neighborhood is getting a huge facelift, with new sidewalks, traffic signals, and newly paved streets. What is the plan and schedule for all our neighborhoods to get our facelift? Most of our neighborhood streets have been ignored and are in terrible condition. Of course, Sam Hughes is a high-income white middle-class neighborhood so they get repaired first. If you want safe streets and more people to commute by cycling to work the city needs to address all the neighborhoods. My neighbor's kids have never learned to ride a bike because all the broken, potholed neighborhood streets are too dangerous for them to ride. If you haven't had an opportunity to drive or bike through Sam Hughes's neighborhood please do so. This is what all our neighborhood streets should look like.
