Description
The traffic lights at the intersection of Forest Ave. and Belmont Street are messed up and causing traffic delays. Today, I was stopped at the intersection for a red light and the light further up at West and Belmont cycled completely through before my light changed. While my light was red, I watched the other light start as red, go to green, go to yellow, go back to red and go to green all before my light turned green. This is definitely messed up in that while I was sitting at that red light there were no cars crossing in front of me heading westerly on Forest Ave. Therefore, there was no need for my red light to remain red for the length of time that it remained red. This then caused back up of traffic due to the wrong cycling for that signal light.

These lights are owned and operated by MA DOT. They have been under survey and design since we indicated. The City has been participating in this all along the way. This is part of phase 3 of the ongoing Belmont St project that is moving from Route 24 eastbound. You can see the progress already made with 3 new signals already installed and a 4th set underway at Brockton High School.
These projects require the relocation of existing utilities which must be completed before construction can begin.
