For all too many years despite legions of citizens and business owners fully advising the City of its failed duty with respect to the condition of the streets in Montclair - the City has failed to resolve their duty. At least in our case, it is certainly not due to our not paying enough property tax. Why does the City remain tone deaf and incapable - no clue here. Take away - they wait for high-value litigation from tragedy, like the cyclist on Mountain, that left her with brain damage and a $3.4 million settlement. Enough is Enough. Time for the City tot he stand up and do its duty.
@Ceilland: that makes so much sense however, the City will not fix problems all at once as that is far more efficient - - and See Click Fix seems to censor comments if they are not lined up right as well. Therefore I have no idea if you will get this post.
The City apparently requires its citizen to be unpaid reporter of the problems - they will drive around an obvious defect across town even, simply because it was not reported YET, even though that cost $$ and burns fossil fuels. IT is the there SOP and they will not hear suggestions -
We have been trying to instigate change in East Oakland where our business is for nearly 5 years to no avail. We live in Montclair and as you know the roads here are truly "third world" and hurt citizens and cause lawsuits. I have given up holding my breath that anything will change soon.
Here are some important City of Oakland contact points:
* Abandoned Autos: 510-777-8622 (abandoned vehicles on public street after 3 days)
* Animal Control: 510-535-5602 (live animals) or 510-535-4888 (dead animals)
* Code Enforcement: 510-238-3381 (blighted private properties, deteriorated buildings, inoperable vehicles on private property)
* Drug Hotline: 510-238-3784 (tips) or 510-777-3211 (in progress)
* Parking Citations: 800-500-6484 (parking citation assistance center, pay or appeal a citation) or 510-238-3099 (enforcement)
* Prostitution Hotline: 510-238-2373 (tips) or 510-777-3211 (in progress)
