Description

Drivers are supposed to stop behind the stop signs at the foot of Morse Ave. ,Booth Ave. and Logan Ave. where they meet Lakeshore Ave. These stop signs are positioned so drivers don't stop right across the lakeshore bike lane. However, cars and trucks regularly ignore the position of the stop signs and pull right up to Lakeshore where they wait for a break in traffic to turn right. This places them over the bike lane, forcing cyclists out into the fast traffic on Lakeshore Blvd. in order to get around the vehicles blocking the path. It is not feasible to go behind the vehicles because there are train tracks running parallel to Lakeshore. It is worse in the morning with drivers heading downtown. Additional signage under each stop sign expicitly telling drivers to not pull forward and block the bike lane is needed, or the stop signs need to be repositioned.
Thank you, Dan Bart
