A 15 Year old boy was assaulted on Saturday, Sept 15th between 9-10pm on the sidewalk on Manchester Ave that runs between Upper Providence and Nether Providence (the sidewalk is on the Upper Providence side). 4-5 males (he thinks) ran up behind him, shoved him down, knocked off his glasses, kicked him several times and tried to take his cell phone. The incident was reported to the Upper Providence Police, but since the boy could not get a good look at his attackers (it was a dark area, his glasses were lost in the struggle), the police do not think there is a good chance of tracking the assaulters down. I am looking to get this information out to the neighborhoods on the Nether Providence side, and hopefully contact their neighborhood watch.
