call your local dog warden, there are barking laws in NY state

If I was a dog living in Kingston, I'd bark all day too.

Dear neighbor, There are tons of dogs in our area, matter of fact, people who don't live on that street drive there to walk dogs, causing the neighborhood dogs to bark. I am no one means to cause you harm. You live in a residential neighborhood. Put on some nice Mozart.

They aren't exaggerating about the noise. You can hear it with the windows closed, over the Mozart, television and vacuum cleaner. The Dane goes in at night. The other, a Great White Pyrannes, does not. So, 2a.m. barking. 5a.m barking. Noon... barking. Sadly, the newer dog gets loose and goes after other neighborhood dogs. Neighbors have spoken. The dog warden has been called, along with police. Nothing has happened. It is a nuisance. Wait... I can hear them right now!

My apologies, but I have to be a bit critical: do you ever speak with your neighbors, have you done so in the past, have you seen then and said good day, how are you? I hope that your first communication ever might be "Your dogs barking is terrible!", but that might be so, but that's what a neighbor has to do... they have every reason to believe that nobody is troubled by the barking, not really, or gee, wouldn't someone have said so? You mean they just hear the barking and never say anything about it?
All I know about your problem is what I see here, and from my view at least part of your unhappiness, and the unhappiness of others is your collective failure to do anything about it except writing something here.
On the other hand, this offers you a bright opportunity to change the game, to speak with your neighbors, ask them if they can help quiet the dogs a bit, demonstrate civil exchange between adults to others, to the kids, to whatever.

"Hi, would you mind, I need to say a few things about your dogs barking? Sorry to say, but it's really been bothering me, do you think you could help?"
You might not like my choice of words, make up your own.

And there is a general rule in making requests: make request to the person or people that can actually do something about it. Otherwise, all you'll get is sympathy, maybe, and more of the same problem.

Damn! I sure didn't do a goot job reading that you have done stuff, lots of stuff,and it hasn't worked. OK, what's the address of the house where the dog barks. (I'd sure like to delete that stuff I just wrote up there... bummer). That really does need to be fixed. What ward are you in, who is your alderman. Thanks

I did as a matter of fact talk to the neighbor. I like them and are very nice. They don't have one Dane they have two! Now it's like a symphony now with the two of them. The neighbor said nobody else has said anything. But it's not just them as well. Their are three houses in close range that allow their dogs to bark bark bark.. The Danes do it longer for hours on end but it's extremely annoying! I don't know who the alderman is whoever is in the West Chestnut St. area...

So the other day we had a concert for a good two hours. I found out that the lady next to them who has a Jack Russell. ( Who makes the dog live in the basement.) Gets annoyed that the Danes are out barking so she lets her dog out for hours to join them in a back and forth barking competition! Not quite sure who won but it went on for hours! I just don't understand why a lot of dog owners just allow their dogs to bark for hours and hours. It's just amazing to me how rude and inconsiderate people are these days! I don't want to start trouble with my neighbors! I just want to live in peace!!!!!

Gee, there's an invitation to action, although surprised you didn't have a list of neighbors with you at the time: one can almost bet that's going to be the reply: you were the only one. And oh yeah, got any addresses for these places. By the way, I have a barking dog near by too... kindness, thought, I can hear the lady who owns him step out and quiet him, take him in the house... dogs will bark, and it makes a whole lot of difference to see the owner being aware and doing what she can about it... and her actions make a huge difference...

The houses are 259 and 261 West Chestnut.. I'm not going to confront them anymore. I said what was happening. I have to live here with them as neighbors. I'm not the confrontational type. I just want peace and quality of life...
