Issue acknowledged - assigning to Traffic.

Technician verified this morning that a person standing in different parts of each of the zones worked but notes that when conditions are so bad (such as during a heavy downpour) the camera cannot maintain a certain contrast level and it reverts to a solid-on (vehicle there) condition - closing issue.

If the camera is unable to detect bikes during rain, then the camera needs adjusting to fix that. Otherwise this issue remains a problem.

The wide angle camera was swapped for one with a narrow angle view. This makes the detection zones larger overall and more responsive. The zones were redone into smaller areas for better sensitivity for smaller vehicles. Recognizing that this is a visual device, in low-light or inclement weather conditions, a headlight and/or bright clothing will help insure detection. At night a light is mandatory. This is not a bicycles only phenomenon. Full size minivans, with certain colors and in certain lighting conditions, no rain, have been missed at another location. The recognition software, looking for a change in the image, is pretty good but not perfect. Please use this information for your future benefit. - this issue is closed.

Just to be crystal clear, at the time of this particular issue I was running *4* independent sets of front/rear lights, including a 700 lumen front light. I was also wearing a full "hi-viz yellow" rain suit, both tops and bottoms, with wide swathes of reflective materials. All far above and beyond the minimum legal requirements in every way.
