So, you would be flying down our neighborhood streets to avoid a crosswalk? What neighborhood do you raise your family in? Use the interstate speedy.

With Trader Joes going in, pedestrians need a closer crosswalk.. walking 3 blocks to a elderly or disabled person is a long way. (the dude) try to have some sympathy to those that need a closer cross walk. it will only enhance our neighborhood, and give people an easier way to access all the new restaurants and stores going in on 4th street.

and to be clear.. if I see people flying down side streets to avoid them.. I will take a pic of their plate and send it to the authorities. With all the stress in todays world.. why not help people.. taking an extra 1-2 minutes to get somewhere may save someone's life.

Great idea! Let's inconvenience the thousands of people driving north and south on 4th St so people can have a more direct route to Trader Joes. Feel the Bern.

and the proposed crosswalk just north of 26th Ave N is gonna be a disaster as someone taking a left out of Crescent heights is either gonna get T-Boned because a pedestrian is gonna walk in front of them causing them to hesitate and /or the driver's gonna hit said pedestrian . Any Ideas Anybody ? Traffic Control Dept ?? Mr Mayor ?

Oh while were at it , maybe REMOVE the extra large hazardous medians on 22nd Ave N just north of Crescent Lake Park park so more drivers will use that road instead of tearing down 26th Ave N . just my not so humble opinion

Oh and if you're gonna use the warning lighted crosswalks - shouldn't their lights turn RED instead of YELLOW so the drivers will stop hopefully

Over the past year, Transportation Department staff have reviewed the 4th Street corridor in cooperation with FDOT. (since it is a roadway under their jurisdiction). Based on that review it has been determined that over 300 pedestrians crossing the corridor per day are being under served. We will be working with FDOT over the next year to better address this traffic safety issue in order to reduce serious and fatal crashes in the future.
We have started this transition with two new pedestrian crosswalks, one at 15th Avenue N that is complete and one between 26th and 27th Avenue N that is underway. Yes these two and others that follow will result in a change to the corridor with a more complete street approach for all users, pedestrians, transit, cyclists and yes motorists. Will it mean that traffic wont be able to speed at 45 to 50 MPH from and to downtown anymore - absolutely! Will the corridor be safer for all roadway users - no doubt!
The small delay to motorists caused by these new facilities are the consequence of a growing City and will no doubt cause many undue hardship and grief to have to change their attitude and behavior as they drive the corridor. This will be of small consequence to them compared to a crash resulting in serious injury or death.
I'm sure this post will undoubtedly spark a flurry of comments. Please fell free to express your opinions and be advised that additional public meetings on the issue will be held later this fall before final design and construction begins. We welcome your input and responsiveness to the project, as through this inclusive process we all will learn and begin to understand the others needs, as we move forward and help the City grow - so that all residents are included and everyone's values and diversity are respected as part of a seamless city!

All I'm trying to point out is that with the volume of cars that turn left ( north ) out of 26th Ave N and pull into the median to merge into the northbound traffic will probably not have enough room for said maneuver without endangering themselves and possibly others on foot or in a car . Is there possibly a better spot for the crosswalk ? Thanks again p.s. maybe a light at trader joe's ?
