This happens every single day and puts the lives of the residents of Adams Street in danger as vehicles parked here block our view of oncoming, northbound traffic on 2nd street.
I have several issues about parking in this 1 block radius:
1. The current construction project doesn't offer many options. They are either blocking the alley or the street.
2. The news paper lady parks in the middle of the street blocking incoming and oncoming traffic every morning with her hazard lights on.
3. The new residents to the neighborhood do not know how to maximize parking as they will take up multiple parking places at the end of a street. These things aren't taught at the DMV
dc RES, the DC Water employees (the car pictured above belongs to one of them, not a "new resident who doesn't know how to maximize parking") do not all park in their designated parking areas, and Parking Enforcement doesn't do much of anything to help when they park illegally on our residential streets. Please keep in mind that just because you see a car that looks like it's taking up multiple spots, that it may have parked in that spot when other cars were also parked in that area, and have since left, making it look like the person still parked is a total jerk. I'm so tired of the "new residents" vs "old residents" bs. We all live here.
I would partially agree with you. I guess to be more clear, the cars that are parked a half a parking place from the end where no car could have been parked there before is what I am referring to. Most of the time they are MD plates, VA plates, or new recognized vehicles to the area. That is the only reason I am comfortable with saying "New" residents.
