Seconded. I get off the bus at this stop and have filled several bags full of discarded dunkin donuts cups, chip bags, and alcohol containers, but the ground and wooded area right behind the bus stop get covered in trash within days.

A year round ornamental trash receptacle would help, but litter is inevitable. It is not possible for any municipality to keep all of its spaces litter free. Even downtown Winchester, one of the most affluent towns in Massachusetts, has litter everywhere. The same type that Medford does.

It takes a community commitment to cleanliness. I clean my neighborhood park space every day. I use a $2 36" "pick up and grab" tool from Harbor Freight Tools. If we want a clean city, we must clean it ourselves.

How great it would be to have a "Clean Spaces Brigade" in Medford, 100 or so members dedicated to keeping their own neighborhoods free of litter.

David, I know some people that might want to join the brigade. And we could publicize it on the various social media people use. Any interest in organizing it?

In the meantime, I just got a reminder from SCF saying that this hasn't been addressed yet, so I'm wondering if there's any potential action on placement of a trash receptacle? I walked by this location recently, and there was none.

I went by this morning, donned some gloves, and filled a 13 gallon trash bag. A trash receptacle would definitely help! This was mostly cigarette packs (and butts) and drink containers, stuff that people don't want to take on the bus.

Still unresolved after 120 days (SCF reminded me). Perhaps this is assigned to the wrong person at the City? It seems like more of a public works thing rather than Code Enforcement officer.

I would like to reopen this issue. When I moved here in November 2014, there was a trash bin there that was very rarely emptied. Then, about 6 months later, the trash bin was removed entirely. Please advise when a new trash bin can be placed at this bus stop. It looks terrible and frankly is a hazard, with broke bottles, etc.

Another SCF reminder, now 721 days. I walked by the other day and the area is filled with trash again.

SCF wants to know if this has been resolved. It has not. 1501 days. There has never been a response from the City. In the meantime, the intersection has been redone, but the trash issue still remains. A response from the City indicating how decisions are made with respect to placement of city trash cans would be appreciated. Thanks.
