Dear Philo Stefanides,
I have changed your SCF from a Public Records Request to traffic calming and assigned it to Traffic Engineer Alan Ta. You are asking that we look into putting a right turn arrow on Park and Otis so that northbound traffic on Park can turn onto Otis while left turn for Otis turn to Park Street. A year or so ago we installed a No Right Turn on Red Sign at this area. If you have a request for specific information, please send it. If you are asking for the right turn arrow, Alan will get to it as soon as possible. These requests are on a first come first serve basis. Sincerely, Gail Carlson, Public Works Department

Dear Gail,
The "Do not turn right on red" sign was installed at least 3 years ago. A right turn only light should have been installed at the same time. Repeated contacts in person and via email with the "traffic engineer" at Public Works resulted to zero feedback.
Hoping that Alan will address the issue.

Same old story of passing the buck. It's been years now of no action.

Thank you for your request to improve the safety and efficiency of Alameda’s transportation system. It has been received as #16-10-0272. Requests for many transportation issues, including stop signs, curb painting, and traffic calming measures, typically require 8-12 weeks to complete before staff can develop a recommendation. These requests involve review of current plans and policies, compilation of accident and/or other history, coordinating with Alameda Police and other stakeholders, outreach to residents or others who may be affected by the proposed change, on-site data collection and analysis, and sometimes consultation with outside experts. We will follow up with you about your request when your request is at the top of the queue. Unfortunately, due to limited funding, there is a backlog of these requests and they are being handled in the order of receipt. Due to that backlog, some requests may take six months to a year to complete the analysis and recommendation. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
