Nearly every day the unregistered dirt bikes and quads race up and down whalley av from sperry street to ella grosso blvd and some days all the way to westville center then back down whalley across to goffe up and down ellsworth norton sherman orchard and sperry weaveing in and out of traffic into oncoming traffic lanes causing other people off the road I have called in complaints to NHPD and was told to call the non emergency phone number I called that number and was put on hold,,,, I have been told if possible determine where they go home to and police will deal with the cycle owners later ...new haven has a no chase policy all I know is if you let law breakers commit crimes their crimes will continue and increase not go away...I have observed police vechicles watching their dangerous riding and doing nothing. Even if they pulled them over and took their bikes one at a time it would be something and eventually they would get all of them and take posession of the bikes and quads.....that would serve 2 purposes getting the bikes off the road and setting an example for others. I watch police motorcycles pulling over soccer moms for sealt belt violations but criminal cycling of unregistered cycles is apparently ok in new haven.....madame mayor and chief Esserman please wake up this is happening every day its not going away from about 2pm to 5pm every day .....they may be kids getting off from school but its still against the law..............please wise up and do something.... thank you respectfully............... A concerned new haven voter

back when the dirtbike/ATV legislation was making it's way through the state senate, most all of the new haven delegation signed on as co sponsors (lemar, winfield, dillon, looney). Harp was conspicious in her absence on the list of co sponsors. Perhaps she was too busy with other legislation or perhaps not aware of what a crucial quality of life issue the dirt bikes/ATVs are. Or maybe its an issue that, for political reasons, she prefers to ignore. So far as mayor, she seems either unconcerned by or not aware of how destructive the dirt bikers are to the sense of well being, community and safety in the outer neighborhoods. Destefano went public with Esserman on the issue, I haven't heard or seen peep from Harp on the dirtbikes/ATVs.
