The City is processing this illegal campsite site and others within the City limits according to City policy.

What does "processing according to city policy" mean? This is very close to where there was an attack last week. Also it is extremely close to the bike path where many,many men,women and children pass by every day.

Not every case is exactly the same. Generally speaking, processing involves a variety of city departments along with specific community service groups. One key city department is the Police Department. The police visit the area along with and sometimes separate from community service groups. The police contact the individuals or leave notices at the camp if they do not find anyone there. The service groups provide information on housing alternatives for the homeless individuals.

Individuals that set up items on city property are asked to remove them voluntarily. Items that are not removed voluntarily by the deadline date are removed by city staff.

I was not at the site and was not with the police when they visited, so I cannot answer about the timeline or the question about 6 weeks. I was merely trying to explain the process to be helpful.

I've been running this stretch of bike path for years and can tell you that this encampment in one form or another has been in place since the fall. Anyone who has spent time in the South End knows it and I am sure the police have been aware for months as well. Tents are easy to move. Remove them and don't let them come back. Not sure what is so hard about this. Roust them every day if they keep coming back. After awhile they won't be back. I want to sleep on the beach, too, but it's illegal, so I don't.

I reported this issue on April 30th. And the campsite is still there. Bummer that one of Burlington's flagship attractions, the bike path, is being affected in a negative way.

People who have houses would love to sleep on the beach. Homeless people would love to have a home. Somebody should help them get off the beach and into a home.

Still there at 4:30 PM on 6/3. Lots of people present. Broad daylight. Perfect time to go roust them. This has been active on here for at least 1 month. At what point do we rally the neighborhood with pitchforks and torches and move these folks on ourselves? Come on. If you are not going to enforce laws, why have them?
