Agreed. The town is now being kept up and the public schools grounds look like a jungle. Tall grass everywhere and the kids play outside. How many are bringing home ticks!

Everything is outsourced. When you operate a city this way things don't get done properly. The taxpayer calls the city and maybe the city calls the contractor and then we all wait. This is not really new just getting worse over time. Wish we could outsource the mayors job.

Let's just face reality. Salem has turned into another Lynn. Homeless everywhere. Mayor is running for higher office or job at University. Every day this city goes a little more downhill

The only way to get the city to even consider doing anything is to convince them it will boost Halloween tourism. They have taken an historically significant city and turned it into a joke.

I think she's up to $120k per year why would she leave? Someone has to run against her but she has driven this city so far down who wants the job? What office is she running for? I cant wait.

Your the same guy who criticized me on another subject and then blasted the city. Go to the top, the thing to fix is the fountain. Pick a side but at least be consistent. This is the forum regardless of how you feel.

Yes, and you keep getting off point! The issue is the issue. Lets get that fixed and then you can address your political issues with the Mayor. On that, I have always been consistent. The city is not always right but it's not a big conspiracy by the Mayor either. When you go off on these tantrums about a person, you let the issue slip into the background and all we hear is ya, ya, ya, ya! You've got a right to be upset about somethings, but is this the best use of your energy? I agree a lot of our streets are in desperate need of repair, we have grass too high on City property, and our playgrounds need attending to. But the City government is more than the Mayor. Engage your Ward Councillor(s), or petition the city. Call the Directors responsible for the repairs. We pay a lot of people to get things done, so lets hold them accountable too.

I was downtown today and saw about 4 or 5 empty stores around the Essex St area. The most popular stores are selling tee shirts. One of the only positive things Salem has going is the outstanding management at Shetland Park. They are now one of the biggest taxpayers ,unlike PEM, NSMC and Salem State.

9 comments and not 1 from the city. Talk about off point, a conspiracy ? My tax dollars are being wasted and I demand accountability. I spent 7 years getting a road defect repaired on Highland Ave that the city created. In the end the State fixed it .Either way I paid for it

The water fountains are scheduled to be running next week.

The old saying is "The Buck Stops Here". The Boss is responsible for the actions of his or her staff. In Salem Ms. Driscoll holds that position. The residents have decided to remove the blinders. The city has been trashed by her leadership. That's the reality of it. If that is offensive then perhaps she should have done a better job.
